July 04, 2017

The twenty-eighth meeting of 12th National People's Congress took the Soil Pollution Control Act of People's Republic of China (Draft) into consideration on June 22, which meant a significant development of legislative work on soil pollution control.

Social Significance of First Soil Pollution Control Act

It’s not optimistic that China’s soil environmental condition tends to be deteriorating. The red line of 1.8 billion mu of farmland is challenged by environmental pollution which needs to be addressed immediately. The introduction of Soil Pollution Control Act can not only compensate for law on soil pollution control in our country, but also push the soil pollution control work into legal system orbit in order to promote the construction of ecological civilization.

Zhou Yifeng’s Suggestions on Soil Pollution Control Act

Zhou Yifeng, as NPC delegate, Hongda Xingye chairman, and the dean of Guangdong Institute of World Soil Resources, attended this meeting and gave two suggestions concerning specific items of Soil Pollution Control Act. The first is to pay high attention to the improvement of acid and alkaline soil so as to make them a back-up land resource; the second is to encourage social capitals to participate in soil improvement and provide some tax preferences or concessions for them.

Guangdong Institute of World Soil Resources as Hongda Xingye’s subsidiary company has dedicated to R&D on soil prevention and improvement, extending the categories and applications of soil improvement products to push on the development of soil improvement industry.
